My philosophy for English development is to approach it the same way a player develops their skills on the pitch. The best way to do this is to identify the skills you need to develop, and then focus on building these skills.
A player can't become a top player by simply playing football. This isn't enough. They need to develop skills. They need to dedicate time to dribbling, shooting, passing, defending, and many other areas.
Your English is exactly the same. If you focus on general English, sure you will see some development, but it will be a long and slow process. You could spend years in a school learning English, and never learn a word that would help you communicate on the pitch, present analysis, or write a scout report. So, first, identify the areas you need to develop. In football they are:
Your vocabulary: If you don't know the words used to discuss football, you simply can't communicate. It is that simple.
